Do you have uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, or melasma concerns?  Mini Melanage may be the peel for you.  This treatment is appropriate for all skin tones; including darker skin types and is a very good treatment for melasma and hyperpigmentation.   Melasma is a skin condition that presents with darkish brown pigmentation that occurs symmetrically on both sides of the face; commonly seen on the cheeks, upper lip, forehead, and chin. Pregnancy, the use of birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, or being on certain medications and getting sun exposure may all cause this condition to form.

Melasma can be very difficult to treat.

In our office, the Mini Melanage or the Melanage Peel is our go-to peels for this condition.  Patients will experience significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. With the added bonus of reduction of fine lines, stimulation of collagen production, and improvement in skin texture and tone.

There are 3 different versions of this peel including;

The Melanage Peel, Mini Melanage Peel, or Mini Melanage High Potency Peel.  For patients who want to do 1 peel, the Melanage is a great choice.  However, this peel is stronger than the Mini Melanage peel and should only be done 1 or 2 times a year.  Patients will experience peeling within 1 to 3 days. Patients will most likely have a good deal of shedding for about a week.  Skin can be red, similar to a sunburn.

Mini Melanage is a less intense version of The Melanage Peel and most patients will have 3 treatments done-  once per month.  This series is usually repeated at least twice per year.  You can still experience some redness and peeling, but not to the same intensity as a Melanage Peel.  The Mini Melanage High Potency peel is a stronger form of the Mini Peel and we sometimes will graduate up to that after doing a Minipeel.

For any of the Melanage peels, in-office there will be an application of the prescription-strength ingredients. Peel will stay on the skin for a recommended period of time (2-10 hours). The patient will remove the peel at home. Our patients get an at-home regimen to follow post-peel which is a very important part of the treatment protocol. Home care is the key to ideal results.
